Welcome to the Enterprise Marmande car rental page. Choose from a wide selection of cars ranging from smaller economy cars to larger SUVs and people carriers
Off the radar for many visitors to France, Marmande is a quaint town in the countryside of Lot-et-Garonne. The town provides a peaceful base for exploring the south-west of France, including stunning rural landscapes known for world class wines and dramatic mountain ranges that challenge riders during the annual Tour de France. If you are looking to hire a car, Enterprise operates a branch at the nearby Bergerac Airport.
Whatever your needs might be, our fleet based at Bergerac Airport has a selection of vehicles. If you are visiting on a short break, we have compact and mid-sized vehicles. For longer stays or if you want more room, you can also choose from a selection of saloons and estates as well as spacious SUVs. Visitors travelling to Marmande in groups benefit from our selection of people carriers, which seat up to nine passengers. A hire car will give you the ability to travel off the beaten track and explore. Not bound by train or bus schedules, you can set your own pace while travelling in style with one of our modern vehicles.
One of Marmande’s highlights is Notre-Dame. Much of the church dates from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, although the altarpiece is from the eighteenth century. The church garden is a fine example of classical French style with shaped parterres and seasonal flowers. Other interesting features include the Renaissance-style cloister from the sixteenth century. Once the homes of merchants and traders, Rue Labat is lined with beautiful half-timber houses from the fifteenth century. Other attractions include the Chapel of Saint Benedict. The chapel’s ceiling was painted in the Baroque style by Jean Michel in the seventeenth century.
Hiring a car for your trip to Marmande lets you see some of picturesque towns in the surrounding area. La Reole is just under a half hour’s drive to the north-west along the D813 and D1113 from Marmande. The historic town is home to France’s oldest town hall, which was used between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries. Other sights include the twelfth church of St. Peter and the eighteenth century Benedictine monastery. Allemans-du-Dropt is also less than a half hour away, but to the north-east via the D132 and D39 roads. Founded by Germanic Alemanni people, the town has a tenth century Romanesque-style church with frescoes from the late fifteenth century and is a popular spot for canoeing in the summer.
Hiring a car from Enterprise also allows you to explore destinations further afield. The town sits within the vast Aquitaine region of south-west France. The region’s largest city is Bordeaux, a location renowned for its wines. The city is just over an hour’s drive to the north-west via the A62. Bayonne is about two hours to the south-west. Part of the French Basque Country, the city has an interesting old town and city walls to explore. A gateway to the majestic Pyrenees, Pau is also about two hours to the south. A car gives you the flexibility to explore all that Aquitaine has to offer, from coastal drives overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to mountain drives through the Pyrenees.
When you hire a car from Bergerac Airport, you only have a 3-minute drive to get to Marmande. Our branch is open daily and conveniently located in the airport terminal. You will be able to pick up your car and start your adventure in France shortly after your flight touches down and you collect your bags. You can travel between Bergerac Airport and Marmande via the D933 and D132 roads. Alternatively, take the N21 from the airport to the D1, and then continue towards Marmande on the D933 and D132 roads.
Unlike France’s largest cities, traffic in Marmande is rarely an issue. Driving on rural routes requires some attention, especially on narrow roads. You should also watch for wildlife crossing roads. Street parking is free for up to 9 minutes on certain roads in the town centre, including rue Charles de Gaulle, rue Leopold-Faye, rue Abel-Boye, and rue de Palais. There are also car parks in the town centre, including at Les Cordeliers close to the town hall off rue Charles de Gaulle.
