Normandy is historically known for Operation Overlord or the “Battle of Normandy”— the Allied invasion of France during World War II. Yet, this region of northern France provides much more. Built in the 8th century, Mont Saint-Michel is symbolic of French history having survived numerous attacks during the Hundred Years’ War. Its beauty radiates inside and out, reminiscent of medieval European tradition. Less than a kilometre off the coast of Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel is one of France’s most remarkable landmarks and attracts over 3 million tourists each year.
